4 Quart Bean Pot
Felipe Ortega's micaceous utilitarian cookware is made with the ancient Jicarilla Apache method. Each pot is hand built from clay that is dug from ancient clay pits. Intensely high heat firing and mica clay's inherent plasticity result in a gorgeous finish impermeable to liquid and ideal for cooking. The vessels were traditionally sought after for cooking over an open flame, yet are easily used in the modern kitchen.

"PESCADOR"

57"x 47"
- oil on canvas
Leovigildo Martinez was born in 1959 in Oaxaca, Mexico, a state in southern Mexico known for its richly artistic traditions. Seventeen different indigenous minorities, many of whom speak languages other than Spanish, live throughout Oaxaca's regions. This remarkable array of cultures and folklore provide the major theme in Martinez's works. Fiestas, folk customs and even the textiles of the region find their way into Martinez's paintings, contributing to what the artist describes as "figurative magic".

24" LEVEL NECKLACE

LeeAnn Herreid's jewelry is something the post-modern traveler should not be without -- compass rings and pendants set in sterling silver ensure you never lose your way, spirit level earrings keep you in balance, and thermometer earrings keep you cool. These are just some of the pieces in Herreid's line of functional, innovative jewelry, consisting of earrings, pendants, rings, and bracelets, that are more than decorative because they have a purpose.
